Name: Kent Gold

Keep it Simple: Live with purpose. We are designed for a purpose bigger than ourselves and realizing that is the source of contentment in any circumstance. Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl observed that those who survived in the concentration camp conditions all shared one trait: a sense of purpose. Frankl wrote "Those who have a ‘why' to live, can bear with almost any ‘how'."

Passions: Love sports. Love soccer and love kids. I'm also passionate about systems (weird- I know). I know I'm blessed to be in a position to pursue all these passions together.

I believe: Kids just wanna have fun. That too many adults project their desire to identify themselves with the sports accomplishments of their kids. And that this thinking, and acting on it without control ruins a lot of kid's experience with the joy of sports. Sports should be pursued for fun, exercise, relationship building and as a vehicle to become a better person…but mostly for fun.

A weakness: Chocolate Chips cookies. Bratwursts. 

Favorite SoccerTots Game: Sleeping Dinosaur. Love hearing the screams of delight.

One Word about me: Depends on who you ask. I heard big-hearted, sporty, funny when I asked. When I'm not present I'd probably hear intense, assertive, eccentric.

Childhood dream: To play professional soccer. 

Bigger than you: My purpose in life. 

Favorite SoccerTots Memory: Too many to name one. Most involve teaching class and watching the kids have fun.

Pig out food: Summer bar-b-ques. I just can't help myself. Gotta go for thirds.

Favorite Book: It changes over time but recently read 1776 by David McCullough. Also like "Undaunted Courage," the account of the Lewis and Clark expedition by Steven Ambrose.

Favorite Music/Band: Enjoy a variety of music. Lean towards music that you can dance to. Like to listen to country when I'm working around the house. Love The Newsboys, Jimmy Buffet and John Cougar.

Ideal night out: Hanging out with friends and family at a lake place.

Background : Kent started his adult life as an aerospace engineer for Boeing.  He spent 13 years in a variety of positions including Design Engineer, Programmer, Customer Engineer and Product Manager.  After that he started an indoor sports facility called Arena Sports in Seattle WA.  Kent grew the company to encompass 5 facilities all over the Puget Sound region.  In 2001, Kent decided to quit being an adult and went back to being a kid.  He sold Arena Sports, moved to Spokane WA and started SoccerTots.  Kent posesses and engineering degree and and an MBA.  Kent is married with three kids of his own.
